You’re Ready to Add Reiki To Your Journey

You’re here, so you’re probably thinking you would either like to see what Reiki is all about, or you have had Reiki sessions and would like to start them again, or maybe you just want to try a new Practitioner. Either way, I’m really glad you found me! I am passionate about Reiki, not just because it’s a magical, mystical, supernatural, awesome universal energy, but because it has changed my life in so many ways, and now I have the opportunity to help you change yours. By having a relationship with this energy, I have come to understand that we are all connected to everything, everywhere. Plants, animals, trees, crystals, water, the earth, and the universe. Reiki isn’t a religion, but it most certainly is spiritual.
YOU DON’T HAVE A SOUL, YOU ARE A SOUL, YOU HAVE A BODY
So let’s dive into it a little.
Reiki is a two-syllable Japanese word meaning universal life force. Although the proper Japanese pronunciation is RYE-KEY, it has been westernised to RAY-KEY. Rei means universal, omnipresent, present everywhere at the same time. Esoterically, Rei means spiritual consciousness, the omniscient wisdom from God or the higher self. Ki is the non-physical vitality that gives life to all living things. Many cultures have understood this for centuries and recognise the importance of Ki energy and how it impacts our lives and well-being. It is ancient.
Ki energy can be activated for the purpose of healing.
Reiki works on the body, mind, and spirit by stimulating a person’s own natural healing abilities. The blocked emotional and physical elements that lead to illness and disease can be cleared. Reiki is neither positive nor negative... it is, in fact, the highest and most profound vibration of life.
Regular contact with Reiki will begin to bring the recipient’s mind, body, and spirit into balance. It will also help prevent the future creation of illness and disease. It is recommended that when you are starting Reiki, it is best to give it a boost by having it for 4 days in a row. It’s more beneficial to have four full sessions, but if time or cost makes this difficult and it is something you would like to do, I can do a 20-30 minute chair session for you for the remaining days. Then, for maximum benefit, I would try to have a full session on a regular basis. I know this sounds like a lot, but people ask me this, and that is what is recommended. You will notice a difference, especially if you do it in conjunction with meditation. I try to do Reiki on myself every day after I meditate, and notice a difference when I miss a day or two.
The way Reiki works is simple. The Practitioner channels the Universal lifeforce energy through their hands, and as your body accepts the energy, it goes where it is needed. It stimulates your immune system and natural healing abilities. Yes, there’s a little more to it than that, but that’s basically how it works, all while you are just relaxing on the Reiki table, listening to music, and possibly taking a nap. Seriously. Many of my clients sleep the whole time.
So you might be wondering what it is that is getting blocked? What is out of balance? It’s your energy centers. They are called CHAKRAS. There are 7 of them and they are super important. They are what all the fuss is about! Since they are so important, I have a whole page about them so you can see what I’m talking about. I’ll also put a link to the benefits of Reiki. There are many!
IN MY PRACTICE, I go to great lengths to figure out which CHAKRAS are blocked, and I work hard to get them cleared. My favorite aides are CRYSTALS. I place special crystals on the Chakras during our session. Over time, I have developed an intuition or ability to sense different energies around the chakras as I work, which helps me identify the blockages. Yes, there’s more to it than that, but you’ll just be relaxing, listening to music, or napping and won’t care a thing about it. You may notice that I return to certain areas, but it’s because my intuition is guiding me there. That’s the magical, mystical, supernatural, awesome part, and it’s just the way it works.
Before you schedule your session, this is a good time to tell you how to prepare yourself before our session. First of all, keep in mind that Reiki is energy work. A lot of things affect energy. The day before, it’s a good idea to get very hydrated. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. We want the energy to flow freely throughout your body without any constrictions, such as a belt or tight pants. Be Alcohol free for this because it can dissipate the energy as well as dehydrate you. Remove all metal jewelry and your watch. Metal absorbs and holds energy. Bring your water bottle. Reiki energy sets in motion a detox of your body, and you need to drink a lot of water the rest of the day and the day after to wash out the toxins.
Be ready to relax and enjoy yourself completely!
What you can expect to feel during your session. The number one comment I get is that my hands get extremely hot. Yes, there is a whole lot of energy flowing from them. I can feel that energy flow, which helps to guide me in certain ways, but surprisingly, they don’t feel hot to me. But other than that, you may experience some of these or none of these, but here are the most common effects my clients have told me they feel. A sensation of heat and cold, seeing colors, dreams, involuntary movements, falling asleep, itchiness, emotional responses, rumbling stomach, memory flashes, pins and needles, a sense of your hands moving, and little zings down the body. You need to make me aware if you feel pain in a certain area as I am working, because it may indicate that a blockage is trying to clear, and I will focus on that area again before I finish our session.
After our session. In case I forget to tell you, when you are getting off the table, sit on the side for a minute or two. Some people are a bit lightheaded when they first stand up. I like to sit and chat for a few minutes to get your impressions from our session, and I will tell you mine. While channeling Reiki energy through me, I sometimes sense emotions and pains as I work down your body. I know these are coming from you because they are not mine. I can explore these with you if you'd like, and hopefully, doing so will help you become more aware of any possible underlying issues you have been trying to ignore. After all, this is your Reiki journey! Let’s get everything we can from it. It’s why you’re here.
POST SESSION: As you go about your day, drink more water than usual. You are beginning a detox that may last several days. Get more rest. You may feel energized, but your body’s energy centers have been cleared and realigned, so be gentle with your body. Give it time to adjust. Try to stay stress-free for a while!
